Hi hello hi,
It’s been a little while since I’ve written a blog post, I’m settling in to my home, started a new job and have lot of other exciting things going on – it’s safe to say I’ve been a little preoccupied lately! I want to start writing more ‘bite sized’ posts as I’m well aware that people are busy and don’t have the time to read blog posts that seem like they are never going to end, with that being said here are my wardrobe staples for summer.
Oversized linen shirt
Personally I don’t think you can beat a good linen shirt, this one from H&M cost me £17.99 last year and is still going strong. It comes in a variety of colours and is the perfect breathable fabric, a dream in the warmer weather. I’m usually a XS/S in H&M and sized up to a M for a more oversized fit.
Satin midi skirt
If you don’t have one of these in your wardrobe, then ask yourself ‘why not?’ A satin midi skirt is great for all occasions, they can be dressed up or dressed down. For a more casual look pair it with trainers, dress it up with heels or for an everyday look throw on a pair of sandals.
I never thought I’d be saying that these are a ‘must have’ item in your wardrobe, but I love Birkenstocks so much that I have 3 pairs! They are comfy, last really well and go with pretty much everything.
A Black midi dress
A Black midi dress is a key item for your wardrobe. A dress that you can dress up or down depending on the weather and occasion is essential.
Cross body bag
I have quite a collection of bags, but more often than not reach for bags that I can wear securely without worrying about them falling off of my shoulder. My favourite one at the moment is my Jw Pei Croc print bag that I got secondhand from Vinted. I’ve definitely got my cost per wear!
A neutral pair of jeans is a necessity in any summer wardrobe, I have a couple of pairs which I feel super comfortable in. I find Mom fit or high waisted pairs more comfortable in summer, and usually opt for light wash denim or an off White as White can be quite harsh and SO difficult to keep clean.
Ribbed vest tops
H&M are my go to for vest tops, the material is quite thick so you can go bra less which is fab as bra lines are something I try to avoid where possible. I have a few of these in plain colours as I think vest tops go with pretty much everything.
Oversized denim jacket
During summer I opt for a light/mid wash denim jacket, my oversized jacket is my go to. Fab to throw on when there is a chill in the air or to make an outfit look more casual.
Converse high tops
I don’t think you can go wrong with a pair of Converse, I have a couple of pairs but get the most wear out of my Black and White pairs. I prefer the high top version as I love how they look in comparison to the other types, I definitely feel more secure in the high tops!
So that’s all from me today, I wanted to round up some of the staples in my summer wardrobe in case you were lacking inspiration before we reach Autumn.
