If you’ve been following my blog or Instagram for quite a while now, you’ll be well aware that I tend to suffer with my skin from time to time. As Winter is readily approaching I decided it was time that I updated my skin care routine. Often in Winter our skin can look dry and dull and well just really lifeless… So I’ve been testing out a range from dermalogica that is new to me to see what difference it has on my skin.
I’ve used dermalogica products a little in the past and a few bits have stayed in my regular routine, but it was time to try something new. Trying something new honestly scared me a little, because once my skin is in a good place I know that even changing one product can really set my skin off.
let’s talk about what I’ve been using shall we?
Have you ever heard of a precleanse before? No I hadn’t either, but now I come to think about it, it makes total sense. Have you ever tried to wash off your makeup and after cleansing still not felt well cleansed? I have. The idea of precleanse is that you can loosen any dirt or makeup that is on your skin before the thorough cleansing stage.
This one was a game changer for me, it’s not often that I wear makeup as I tend to head into work barefaced. But on the days that I do or days where I head to the gym this one product makes a world of difference. Only a little bit of this goes a long long way. Once you mix the product with a little bit of warm water you’ll find that any makeup, dirt or oil just starts to melt away. Oh and I forgot to add, you can remove waterproof makeup with this one too.
dermalogica special cleansing gel
In the Winter it can be hard to find a cleanser that doesn’t dry out the skin, I often find that the ones which lather (like this one) are the most drying of them all. However this cleanser is soap-free and doesn’t dry my skin. The Mint and Lavender extracts in the cleanser have a very soothing effect on the skin which is just what you need.
dermalogica daily microfoliant
For skin that can look a little dull, which I think is most of us in the Winter months, this product is simply amazing. In the past I’ve tried the daily superfoliant (which I’m obsessed with) which is great for weekly deep exfoliation. The daily microfoliant in my eyes is the perfect product for daily exfoliation. Once you mix it with a little water and use it to exfoliate your skin you’ll find your skin so thoroughly cleansed that you wonder where this product has been all your life. Using this to remove all the dead skin cells only helps to brighten and even our skins appearance during the colder months, whilst still being gentile on the skin.
dermalogica skin smoothing cream
I don’t know about you but I love the feeling after cleansing my skin as it leaves me feeling refreshed. Often I tend struggle with finding a moisturiser which is light and hydrating. This one does exactly what it says on the tin and a little goes a really long way, without the need to reapply it during the day. The only negative thing I can say about this product is that I can really smell the Cucumber, but in all honesty I’m probably being a little fussy as I don’t like cucumbers!
dermalogica skinperfect primer
Until recently I had no idea this product existed. I’d been longing to find a primer which included SPF protection (30 in this case) and a tint to it to even my skin tone. I’ve found that once applied after my moisturiser it creates a smooth base for makeup application, or I can wear it alone for a little bit of a glow and protection against UV rays.
The formula itself is really velvety and is easily absorbed by the skin. When it comes to primers I often find that when I apply makeup on my nose it seems to ‘slide off‘ and not last all day. This primer helps disguise my pores and keep my coverage looking even, until I remove my makeup.
So there you have it, all of the products that I’ve been using for the last few weeks to help prepare and care for my skin this Winter. You can shop these items below:
