Putting Nutree Life snack bites to the test – Vegan & Gluten free

Eating chocolate brownies and toffee snack bites is fine if you’re taste testing them, right? Yeah. I thought so too… On that note let’s get down to what today’s post is really about, besides me stuffing my face with (gifted treats). Nutree Life were kind enough to gift me both their Chocolate Brownie protein snack bites and their Sticky Toffee protein snack bites (yay me) and with loving food as much as I do, along with my love for health and fitness it was a perfect match!

Within this post I’m going to talk a little about both of these products. I’m hoping you’ll like the sound of them so much that you purchase some for yourself. In the past I’ve found it hard to get my hands on affordable gluten-free and dairy free protein snacks, that taste good and are not really artificial. I think Nutree Life have done just that, so enough rambling from me, just thinking about these snacks is making me hungry…

A little bit about Nutree Life

Nutree Life are a family run business based in Preston, Lancashire who want to make good nutrition accessible to everyone by using only plant-based ingredients. You can read more on this here.

Nutree Bite obsession

Firstly what I love about these bites are that they are individually wrapped, which makes it harder to just keep eating them and secondly helps them stay fresh for longer (for those of you with willpower) so they don’t go off too quickly. They are also clearly labelled as Gluten, Wheat and Soya free and not to mention Vegan too. Yes, you read that correctly a snack with all of the above finally!

Note: These are incredibly addictive, I would recommend keeping them out of sight (out of sight out of mind) or in my case constantly thinking about where I hid the bites worrying that someone may steal them.

Chocolate Brownie protein bites

Can I just say that I love chocolate and since I’ve been dairy free as well as gluten-free finding ‘treats‘ that are both has been a struggle, well it’s a struggle if you don’t want to pay a fortune for next to nothing.

After trying a few of these (about 5 or 6) I was able to put them to the taste test, and if the fact that I ate multiple over two sittings didn’t hint at this already, I’d say they are pretty good. Perfect for when you want a sweet snack as they are quite rich so you really can’t eat too many of them without feeling sick. I expected the brownies to have a really dry texture as they are in little cubes and last for a few months but surprisingly they aren’t dry at all and are full of flavour. Per 22g serving (bite) there’s quite a lot of fibre at 4.5g great for those on a Gluten free diet and surprisingly more protein than expected at 6.2g. Who said brownies can’t be nutritious and delicious?? The only even slightly negative thing I could possibly say about these little bites are they have a bit of an odd first taste, but I’m not sure if this is because I’m extremely fussy anywayyyy… You can purchase these here.

Sticky toffee protein snack bites

More little pieces of goodness, personally I prefer these to the chocolate bites which for me is odd as I’m a real chocolate fanatic… I’m the type of person who needs to incorporate something sweet into every day. If I don’t I’m likely to binge and eat way more than I would have had I allowed myself a treat in the first place.

The sticky toffee bites are something that again similarly to the chocolate bites are sweet and rich enough that for anyone (but me) to happily have one or two without reaching for more, because they would be satisfied.

Who would have known that prepackaged bite size squares would be so full of goodness, including protein at 5.3g and fibre at 4g per bite (22g)? Well, not me I’ll tell you that. Whilst writing this with both packs of bites I’m finding it especially hard to resist eating more ‘for the taste test‘, you can buy these here.

Final thoughts

I’ve tried a few Vegan, GF, WF, SF & DF bits and pieces in the past and haven’t been a massive fan of many things I’ve tried because they all taste a little artificial, I can happily say that after much ‘well needed‘ taste testing these little bites are rather enjoyable and once my supply runs out I’d happily purchase more again with my own money and maybe try something new, although I’m a creature of habit and once I find something I like I tend to stick to it.

You can purchase these (and many other treats) here for £12.99 reduced from £16.99 this may sound a little expensive considering you get 18 bites per pack but I know that I buy snacks that have little or no nutritional value for way more money per piece and at least this way you know what you’re eating is fuelling your body the right way!
