It’s getting to that weird time of year again where I can’t decide what to wear. It’s cold in the morning so I need to layer up but then it gets warmer during the day and I’m left sweating… not the look I try to go for if I’m honest. So I thought I’d put together a small collection of some of my transitional items to help go from Winter to Spring this year.
The denim skirt
When creating a transitional wardrobe it’s very important to have items that can be worn multiple ways, I.e. This denim skirt which is Black, high waisted and SO versatile as you can wear it with or without tights. With trainers, heels or boots to take it from day to night or with various different style tops and jumpers. This is from MISSPAP (all items linked at the bottom of the post) and cost £20 in a size 8. I wasn’t sure if it would fit as I have a long body, short legs and the waist on most items are usually too big, but it fit perfectly yay. This is a great transitional item to have in your wardrobe as you can wear it many ways as the seasons change.
The roll neck jumper
Currently I’ve got a knitwear obsession, I LOVE it . So when I stumbled across this roll neck Mustard knit in Barcelona naturally I couldn’t leave the shop without it. I got a size S and it’s very oversized, making it perfect for layering as you can get away with wearing long sleeved tops underneath too. Now you’re probably thinking it’s coming up to Spring why would I want to wear a jumper? Wellllll we all know that English weather is a little unpredictable, so having a cosy jumper that you can easily remove or slip on when the temperature changes is always a good thing. It’s from H&M for about £25.
The alternative bottom
High waisted trousers, and yes I mean trousers not jeans are perfect for this time of year. I recently bought a pair of Navy pinstriped trousers from Berksha which are THE comfiest bottoms I’ve ever owned. They have a red pinstripe which is a little unusual but one of the reasons I really liked them. The drawstring waist is perfect because trousers that fit in the legs and bum area but not the waist are just not for me. They are a sturdy but non stretchy material that still allow you to move, for reference I got mine in a size S for £10 when they were half price. I love styling these because you can wear them casual with a pair of trainers or dress them up with some smart shoes or heels. Alternatively you can wear a comfy tee, jumper or nice top depending on the occasion.
The dress that surprised me in a good way
Anyone who knows me well knows that I’m not a dressy kinda gal, because I can never find anything that suits my ever awkward long body and not so long legs… This was until I had a VIP Personal shopping experience with Topshop Norwich. When I first saw this dress I flat-out told the lady that I’d never wear anything like it and that I ‘don’t do embroidery’ yup, it wasn’t love at first sight. However when I tried the dress on I really liked it, the material is really soft and not too thick, the dress itself wasn’t long and wasn’t short so could easily be worn with or without tights. The arms even though they have a slight balloon sleeve were very flattering as they don’t cling anywhere and the waist is elasticated so isn’t restricting either. I was bought this dress for Christmas and can’t wait to wear it more and more as the weather changes.
The miniature bag of dreams
Finally, I just love small bags at the moment and so when I saw this beauty in Barcelona Stradivarious I just had to have it, especially as it was reduced from 20 euros to 10! It’s the perfect size for someone like me who’s always on the go. It’s got an inside pocket too which is always handy and fits in all the necessities. The reason I love this bag so much is because I think the design on the front is amazing with the coloured flowers and Bee embellishments. Another thing that drew me to this bag was the chain strap as I’ve wanted a bag with just a chain strap for quite a while but couldn’t find the right one. Unfortunately I can’t find this one online anymore but Primark are always stocking similar ones so it’s always worth checking them out too.
Thank you for reading I hope this post gives you some inspiration for the next few months,
Love Saff x
