As you may already know I attended the annual MK Fashion show held in the beautiful Chicheley Hall in Milton Keynes, on Saturday 28th October 2017. The perfect way to start off any Autumn/Winter season. I was a few hours from home but had been very excited over the leading months to be able to attend my first ever fashion show!
There was Prosecco on offer but I was driving that evening so it was one treat I had to turn down. I’ve always loved of fashion from a young age so this was a dream come true, getting to sit on the front row and to see items head down the runway.
Before watching the show I chatted to those running the stalls where possible, of course they were busy chatting to customers and making sure everything was in order. I particularly enjoyed speaking to Anna Calvert who hand crafts and sells her own jewellery all of which were beautiful. I can really appreciate the hard work that has gone into individually crafting each piece as I’ve made jewellery in the past.
Having never attended a fashion show before I wasn’t really sure what to expect… but the show went on smoothly to my delight. It was hosted by Miss MK and started with a beautiful lady called Estelle who had an amazing voice, she gave me goosebumps and made my hair stand up upon end. She was something special who I’d love to see perform in the future.
Then followed the catwalk show, I was pleased to see girls and guys of all ages, shapes and sizes. I think it takes a lot of confidence to go out in front of lots of people who you don’t know and model outfits that are potentially out of your comfort zone. I also like seeing a variety of people because we aren’t all the same so just showing us one body shape, size or hair colour isn’t going to suit everyone’s style making this a show for all!
All of the models had their makeup expertly applied by Jenny Buckland Makeup with Delilah Cosmetics and hair styled by Henna and Barnets Hair.
The show was filled with so many brands that ranged from couture fashion to casual wear, occasion wear and outerwear. I was thrilled to see Scarlett London’s beautiful new range of dresses and accessories in person. We also had the pleasure of seeing Olivia Buckland in the show who portrayed herself as a lovely outgoing girl who oozed charisma and beauty, it was really refreshing to see how she behaved backstage with the models and to see how she encouraged them before they went on and just got on like they had all been friends for a long time.
During the breaks there was just enough time to nip to the bathroom, grab a drink or browse at what was on sale on the stalls.
The show was brought to an end with another performer who played the guitar and was just a lovely presence, a perfect way to end an exciting evening.
Thank you Gem Media for having me and thank you for reading!
