Hate cardio as much as I do? I may have found a solution

Yep that’s right, I said what you’re all secretly thinking… I HATE cardio and I mean it, who wants to be super sweaty and feel like there isn’t enough air? Nope not me? Raise your hand if you agree… I remember being at high school and running constantly, I loved it because I was naturally good at it. I also had to do it asI was at school and I couldn’t face coming last as I’m wayyyy too competitive.

Okayyy that’s enough reminiscing about high school, I got you interested by telling you there was a solution to the dreaded cardio as we know it… treadmills, ellipticals, cross trainers and yes the stairs of doom. I can’t promise that my solution will have all the same benefits as those listed above but it’s way more fun, works most of your body and helps you tone too! I’m writing this and although I know what’s coming I’m getting excited about the prospects of fun cardio.

It’s so awesome that I can multitask when doing it (not advised for beginners) it’s affordable, you need about 30 mins to benefit from it and can be done pretty much anytime of day. Surpriseeee it’s hula hooping, not the kind that you eat (a girl can dream) but the kind which uses a weighted hula hoop. Mine is 1.2 kg, foam coated and has ridges on the inside which help to stimulate and massage the muscles to help and tone them.

My favourite type of hula hooping is the standard ‘around the waist’ type, I mastered this a long time ago as a child but have only recently rediscovered my love for hooping. I’ve also found that going the other way is really hard, after practising I can now do it quite well. I advise that if you’re a hula hooper or are looking to start then hula hoop both ways, to make sure you work your muscles equally to avoid injury. You can hula hoop on your arms and even lower down on your body but core work is my favourite.

If you’re looking for a low impact, quick and relatively easy workout that requires little cost or equipment then maybe hooping is for you!!

This bit is for those who like workout facts: per minute you can burn on average 7 calories hooping and in 30 minutes you can burn 210 (roughly). I’m not really a number kind of gal I just thought I’d try to answer any question you may have on this.

I hoop you liked this post (see what I did there?) and would love to know if you try it out. I found my hoop on Ebay and you can buy it for between £8-12!

Thank you for reading,

Love Saff x
